BRAJA BHUSHAN MOHANTY, FIRST ODIA TO WIN ‘DRONACHARYA’ AWARD.

Boxing coach Braja Bhushan Mohanty was conferred with the eminent Dronacharya Award on the occasion of National Sports Day at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Tuesday. He received the award for his lifetime contribution to boxing.
Mohanty is the first Odia to receive the award for his immense contribution towards boxing. He is a resident of Badakhemundi, Berhampur and kicked off his career as a boxing coach in defense. He was appointed as the chief boxing coach of the Jharkhand boxing team post retirement in 2013. He was also in the Indian coaching team for boxers from 2002-2011.

Other lifetime achievement awardees include GSSV Prasad (Badminton), P A Raphel (Hockey), Sanjay Chakravarthy (Shooting) and Roshan Lal (wrestling).
