Odisha Set’s a Deadline of June 2022 To Start vaccine manufacturing unit in Bhubaneswar

The Odisha government has set a June 2022 deadline for the start of Covaxin production at the Andharua manufacturing plant, with construction work already underway.

According to a press release from the state government, the plant will produce ten different advanced vaccines, including coronavirus and malaria vaccines.

According to the government, it was founded through Bharat Biotech International Ltd (BBIL), and construction of the plant was made possible by IDCO’s “smooth land allotment process” and “ease of doing business reforms.”

The required statutory clearances and permits for the unit’s construction have been issued. After reviewing the progress made thus far, chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra has ordered that the anchor vaccine production unit be built as soon as possible and that other vital infrastructures be decommissioned.

Mahapatra also instructed the department to create a technical directorate of biotechnology to take a more concentrated and expedient approach to incubation and the establishment of new industries in the field. Odisha’s Biotechnology Policy was enacted in 2018. Subsidies must be handled professionally to achieve the best results.
