Places To Visit In Odisha.

1. Bhubaneswar


Bhubaneswar Known as the Temple City of India, Bhubaneswar is one of the best tourist places to visit in Odisha. It is a classic example of history, heritage, and urbanization. The place has marvelous temples showcasing amazing artwork, wildlife sanctuaries, and exhilarating caves.

Key attractions:  Dhauli Hills, Udayagiri & Khandagiri caves,  Bindu Sarovara, Nandan Kanan Zoological Park,, and temples of Mukteswar, Lingaraj, Brahmeswara, & Parasurameswara


2. Puri


Puri is the place to be. Ranked among the top tourist places in Odisha, Puri is known for its sunny beaches, age-old temples, and local bustling markets that tempt tourists round the year. It is also among the original Char Dhams that hold significance in the Hindu religion.

Key attractions: Puri Beach, Puri Beach Festival, Puri Jagannath temple, Chilika Lake & Bird Sanctuary, and Gundicha Ghar Temple.


3. Konark

Konark sun temple is a  13th-century sun temple. It was believed that the temple was built by Narshimhadev in 1255 CE. This temple is one of the best tourist places in Odisha.The temple is 35km away from Puri & 65km from Bhubaneswar.

This unique temple is located on the sea shore when it was built, but the sea is reduced little away from the temple.

The temple also symbolizes the passage of time, which is under the sun god's control. The seven horses, which pull the sun temple eastwards towards the dawn, represent the days of the week. The 12 pairs of wheels represent the 12 months of the year and the eight spokes in each wheel symbolize the eight ideal stages of a woman's day.



The work of the art is dedicated to Sun God, but the identity of the artists & the personality behind the sun temple still unknown.

Key attractions: Archeological Museum, the temple of Sun God & Ramchandi, Chandrabhaga Beach.

4. Cuttack

Cuttack is one of the vintage cities and popular tourist places in Orissa. The business capital of the state is known for many ancient pilgrim centers, forts, museums, lakes, and islands. Moreover, this place also boasts of local handicrafts.



Key attractions: Mahanadi Barrage, Fort of Barabati,, Ansupa Lake, and Temples of Singanatha & State material museum.

5.Rourkela

Rourkela is a city located in the northern part of the Indian state of Odisha. It is the third largest city in Odisha. It is situated about 340 kilometers from  Bhubaneswar and is surrounded by a range of hills and encircled by rivers. The city is also popularly known as Ispat Nagar and also as the Steel City of Odisha. It has one of the largest steel plants of the Steel Authority of India Limited(SAIL) known as Rourkela Steel Plant. 



 Key attractions:  Hanuman Vatika, Vedavyas Temple, Rourkela steel plant.
