Amid huge raise in the covid positive
cases in the state, especially in Khurds district, the Government of Odisha is
planning a 7day lockdown in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and several western districts
later this week. The state reported a single-day surge of 8,386b cases and a nearly
20% of positivity rate.
According to the director of health
services Bijoy Mohapatra community transmission is one of the reasons behind
the spike. Many people are returning to Cuttack and Bhubaneswar from other
places, and gatherings in the fish market,
vegetable market and liquor shops are the main reasons for the increase
in the number of people getting affected.
Tough the Government opted for a weekend
shutdown but still, it did not result in lowering the number of cases so, The government is planning for a seven-day lockdown in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and
several western districts later this week.
